18F-FDG Lymphoma Study

PET with 2-[fluorine-18] fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) may play an important role in the evaluation and management of malignant lymphoma. FDG uptake is predictive of therapeutic response during the course of treatment. The adjacent images show advanced progression of the disease with focal nodules showing increased glucose metabolic uptake throughout the body.

11C-5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)

5-HTP is a naturally-occurring amino acid and is also a precursor to production of the neurotransmitter serotonin. 5-HTP is preferentially taken up by carcinoid tumors of the liver that produce serotonin. The radiolabeled 11C analog of 5-HTP is shown to aggregate in tumor nodules of the liver as well as several metastatic sites throughout the body.
